The Domestic Abuse Survivor Forum (DASF) is made up of survivors who want to use their knowledge and experience to improve education and best practice around domestic abuse, and to develop and improve services and responses for survivors.
We believe that survivors are experts by experience, by collaborating and listening to experiences we will develop a deeper understanding of the impact of domestic abuse and what is important to enable recovery. This will allow us to focus on areas of highest need, leading to more meaningful support and a greater long term positive impact.
Members are invited to meetings to discuss current opportunities and how best for forum members to provide meaningful input.
There are a variety of ways that members can be involved:
- Attending focus groups
- Responding to surveys
- Delivering training around domestic abuse
- Providing case studies or testimonies
- Speaking at events
- Representing the voice of the survivor at meetings
Members will receive support, and opportunities for training, to enable them to contribute in the way they feel is most appropriate. This might include:
- Training in specific tasks such as delivering training or public speaking
- Support from a domestic abuse advocate
- Support and guidance from the Survivor Forum Co-ordinator
