Rising Sun supports adults and children affected by domestic abuse in Canterbury, Ashford and Folkestone & Hythe. We support survivors through every step of removing abuse from their lives and improving their safety.
Adults
We have a range of specialist services and support available for those aged 16+ who are currently, or have previously been, experiencing domestic abuse and live in Canterbury, Ashford or Folkestone & Hythe.
You can access free, non-judgemental support at our One Stop Shops, through our community services, and via 1:1 counselling.
We’re here for you at whatever stage of the journey you’re at.
Children & young people
We have a range of specialist services and support available for children and young people, aged 5 to 24, who are currently, or have previously been, impacted by domestic abuse and live in Canterbury, Ashford or Folkestone & Hythe.
We provide one-to-one support through our mentoring, counselling and 16 to 24 IDVA service, as well as group programmes and activity days.
Liberty House
Liberty House provides specialist supported accommodation for young women aged 16 to 24 who are single, pregnant or have young children and are at risk of homelessness and have experienced domestic abuse. This survivor-centred project supports young women to draw on their own strengths to build safe and independent futures for themselves and their children.
Within a safe, comfortable and non-judgemental environment, young women are supported by an allocated key worker and have access to a range of support including safety planning, advocacy, 1:1 counselling and mentoring.
Hospital IDVA
Our Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advocates, also known as HIDVAs, work both in hospitals and within the community, enabling patients to stay safe and feel in control of their journey after experiencing domestic abuse.
Our HIDVAs provide this specialist service in Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Buckland Hospital, William Harvey Hospital and Darent Valley Hospital.
